A nonprofit organization formed to help the library better serve the community and expand cultural and educational experiences. We raise funds from dues, events, grants, gifts, planned-giving and the used book store, the “Book Cellar”, on the lower floor to pay for items outside of the budget provided by the taxpayer.

Over the years, the Friends have paid for items such as programming, bus trips, a 3D printer and educational equipment for the children’s room. We obtained the start-up grant for the HUB- our computer center. The Friends provided paperbacks for our service members and established a “Little Library” with free books at both City Hall and the Train Station. We participate in community events such as the Farmers’ Market and Fall Foliage. Since we are a 501(c )3, we can apply for grant money unavailable to the library. We continue to look for ways to make the library more inviting to all and your ideas and suggestions are always welcome.
We offer two types of memberships – active for those who want to attend meetings and help plan events and projects or, supportive for those who may just wish to help with a tax-deductible donation. Membership forms may be picked up at the library, or viewed for download here.
Contact the library at (845) 856-7313 for meeting dates and further information about membership forms.
